Dear Seamus
Thank you for your recent letter regarding the proposal for the erection of a monument in honour of John Devoy.
I am very pleased to support your idea. John Devoy has been synonymous with the Kill/Naas area and it would be very fitting if such a monument was erected in the county town Naas.
There is a long tradition of associating John Devoy with Naas. The army barracks was always known as Devoy Barracks and about 40 years ago a monument to John Devoy was laid between Kill and Johnstown.
As you are aware, there are many decendants of John Devoy still living in the Kill/Naas area.
Therefore,it would be most fitting if an appropriate monument could be erected in Naas.
Yours Sincerely
Charlie Mc Creevy
