Memorial Committee
The Memorial Committee is headed up by Mr. Seamus Curran who would be delighted to answer any question that you may have regarding John Devoy.

Seamus Curran
The John Devoy Memorial Committe are currently in the process of making a proposal to the appropriate authorities, for the erection of a monument to the Fenian John Devoy in the town of Naas, County Kildare, Ireland.
Devoy, like many of his fellow countrymen, was a member of the Irish Diasphora who were forced either politically or by poverty to emigrate to the United States. Devoy spent most of his adult life in exile in America. While living in New York he worked tirelessly for Ireland's eventual freedom. As head of Clan Na Gael in America he was responsible for many deeds promoting Irish Independence. Devoy spent over fifty years in exile organising the finance and the arms for the 1916 Rising and lived to see the formation of the Free State.
As he lived so long in exile, his long and industrious life has been overlooked among the pages of Irish History books. The erection of a monument to him would be a fitting tribute to a great Kildare man. To date we have received letters of support from prominent people both here in Ireland and America. Support for this project from all Irish American descendents interested in Irish history would be most welcome. The finance for this project has been pledged from core business people in the area.
